lego docks

10 Feb 2008 In: DIY, Geeky, Mundane, Tasks, Wala lang

Last Thursday while I was doing a task for my dad I inadvertently discovered a box full of my old Legos. I was filled with so much joy and ecstasy! Prior to this. I thought that all of my Lego blocks disappeared years ago when some evilly enterprising people climbed the back of our house and took stuff from us. This includes my toys–all my toys. So imagine how happy I was. I was a Lego fanatic. I’d spent hours and hours creating space ships, buildings and what have you.

I suddenly got a fun idea: docks for my iPaq and iPod! Then I went up and proceeded to wash the blocks. But since I have to read for SpecPro I held off for a few minutes until I was helpless against the uncontrollable desire to reminisce the long afternoons of my childhood trying to decide what to build. After an hour, I successfully made the ff docks (Note that I have to work with the blocks that I have so forgive the seeming repulsiveness of the color combinations):

Two nights ago my brother wore this cool shirt:

I was very sleepy when I saw him wearing this. Thanks to him I laughed so hard and suddenly got an adrenaline boost that enabled me to stay up for an additional 2 hours. =)

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

song idea: a good deal

3 Feb 2008 In: In Him, Magnificent, Music

I just got home and I haven’t started reviewing for my Corpo exam tom. But I just can’t not write this first:

While psyching myself up to start studying, I suddenly got an idea for a song. The whole theme is that I’ve got more than what I bargained for…In the stripes that You bore… For I am broken beyond repair, locked in this despair… Yet your hearts now beats in mine, and my mouth filled with songs of the Divine…

For the moment ayan pa lang ang nasusulat ko.I’ll get back to writing it tomorrow after my Corpo midterms. :)

 Stuck in the Library

It’s 6:09 by my watch and I’m still stuck in the Law Library studying for Monday’s Corpo exam. Except for the guard manning the entrance, I’m the only person studying in the first floor. The only sound I could hear is the hum of the air conditioning. I wanna go home already as I was up since 2 am today. Aaargh :)

midterm studying 019 A little backstory:

Last month the power supply of my desktop ran out of juice. I could not pinpoint what exactly happened but all of a sudden my PC won’t turn on. We bought a new power supply and I dutifully installed it the minute we got home. So, everything’s fine again.

Last week, barely a month after I installed it, the power supply of the PC suddenly beeped a long beep. It was actually scary. In fact, it sounded like a flat-line in a heart rate monitor. The screen went blank. After opening up my PC I concluded that indeed the power supply is broken again. I don’t have PRIL class during that day so I left early so that I could have the unit replaced. It came with a three-month warranty. When I arrived at the store, the friendly clerk told me that it was the manufacturer who warranted the device. For a second I was tempted to give the clerk a brief lecture about the warranties expected by law from a seller. However, I don’t want to make her day more difficult than it already is so I desisted. She told me that it would take three weeks to replace. It seems that that’s the only way to go so I just left and got a claim receipt.

Fast-forward to Monday this week:

Since I don’t have my desktop, which by the way is also the media server in our house and the repository of all the music files I have collected since high school, I started to feel that my ears are suffering from sonic-withdrawal sickness caused by the utter silence in my room.

midterm studying 021 I was reviewing for Midterms and sadly I’ve only transferred 98 albums to my laptop, more than half of which are utter sonic garbage. The only recourse  I have is my iPod. However, my iPod has connectivity issues. It’s four years old and it HD is a bit scarred. But I’ve discovered one thing: if I open-literally open-it then it is recognized by my computer and viola all connectivity issues are solved. I do not know the exact reason for this but the only time my laptop recognizes that my iPod is plugged-in is when I take it apart. Here are some pics:

Whooozy

2 Feb 2008 In: Mundane

For the past three four days it seems that espresso has been co-mingled with my blood. I’ve been drinking liberal amounts of it to keep myself awake and alert so that I could review midterms, which for some reason, was scheduled horribly. And now, I feel like I’m gonna crash. But I can’t. I still have Corpo on Monday and I could see no other time available for review but today because tomorrow is Sunday and I am at church the whole day.

midterms na

Sana matapos ko na ang Med Jur assignment na to 003I’m on my second cup of coffee and finally, I’m halfway through tomorrow’s Med Jur assignment. I haven’t started reviewing for Corpo, Spec Pro and Loc Gov. So tomorrow will be a test of self-control.Earlier today, my computer’s power supply failed while I was burning a cd. Good thing is that it came with a three month warranty so I dropped it off at Silicon Valley before going to school. The the clerk at the store tested the busted power supply I brought and I learned something new today–more specifically, I learned how to activate the power supply without a power button. Upon confirmation of my claims, they gave me a claim receipt and told me that the minimum waiting period for a new unit would be two week because the warranty was not provided by them (the store) but the manufacturer themselves. While I was tempted to contest such knowing that as seller they were bound to keep certain warranties. A split-second after the thought I resolved to desist from arguing and requesting a service replacement unit which I will dutifully return once they’ve replaced my power supply with a new one because I see the benefits of my computer being decommission for the next two weeks:

1. We could save on electricity bills. Being the media server and the computer where I initiate and save all downloads, my desktop stays on save for certain days when I turn it of so that it could rest. Note that I have an unconventional cooling system: I placed an industrial fan at the back of my desktop.

2. Midterms are coming up so one less distraction is immensely helpful.

All I Ever Needed

The wasteful-ness of not living as we are supposed to be is fatal. We are not to squander away our divine calls. Nothing compares to what He has done for us. I could not fully imagine the immensity of His love towards us. Towards me.

Surprising Discoveries

16 Jan 2008 In: General, Magnificent, Mundane, Wala lang

There is so much joy in knowing that the love of the Lord towards me knows no limits. You see, that’s just the way He is. Even the fact the requires us to be righteous is a blessing in itself. Reading Psalms 91 this morning for the 4th time this week, the potency of His word to give me hope and build up hope is never diminishes. Just look at how powerful this promise is: No evil shall befall you.

That is a discovery that changed my life.

Another discovery: meron pa lang synth riff sa Break Free All The Above version that sounded like one of Reason 3’s factory synths:)

Another one: meron pala akong Lavazza na kape galing sa aking ninang. Yey! She gave iyong Qualitia Oro and iyong Crema e Gusto Ricco blends.
