I’m off and running.. and I’m not turning back. (Phil 3:14, MSG)
Last month the power supply of my desktop ran out of juice. I could not pinpoint what exactly happened but all of a sudden my PC won’t turn on. We bought a new power supply and I dutifully installed it the minute we got home. So, everything’s fine again.
Last week, barely a month after I installed it, the power supply of the PC suddenly beeped a long beep. It was actually scary. In fact, it sounded like a flat-line in a heart rate monitor. The screen went blank. After opening up my PC I concluded that indeed the power supply is broken again. I don’t have PRIL class during that day so I left early so that I could have the unit replaced. It came with a three-month warranty. When I arrived at the store, the friendly clerk told me that it was the manufacturer who warranted the device. For a second I was tempted to give the clerk a brief lecture about the warranties expected by law from a seller. However, I don’t want to make her day more difficult than it already is so I desisted. She told me that it would take three weeks to replace. It seems that that’s the only way to go so I just left and got a claim receipt.
Fast-forward to Monday this week:
Since I don’t have my desktop, which by the way is also the media server in our house and the repository of all the music files I have collected since high school, I started to feel that my ears are suffering from sonic-withdrawal sickness caused by the utter silence in my room.
I was reviewing for Midterms and sadly I’ve only transferred 98 albums to my laptop, more than half of which are utter sonic garbage. The only recourse I have is my iPod. However, my iPod has connectivity issues. It’s four years old and it HD is a bit scarred. But I’ve discovered one thing: if I open-literally open-it then it is recognized by my computer and viola all connectivity issues are solved. I do not know the exact reason for this but the only time my laptop recognizes that my iPod is plugged-in is when I take it apart. Here are some pics:
